Psychonomic Society Publications Open/Public Access Policies

The Psychonomic Society publishes journals in order to disseminate scientific knowledge created by authors as widely as possible. The following access policies have been adopted by the Psychonomic Society Publications Committee.

1. The PSP copyright agreement allows articles to be submitted to PubMed Central (PMC) and UK PubMed Central (UKPMC) in accordance with the policies of the NIH, the HHMI, the Wellcome Trust, and any other granting agencies that require archiving manuscripts as soon as they are accepted for publication. (PubMed Central is the U.S. National Institutes of Health [NIH] free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature, and UK PubMed Central is its European counterpart.)

It is the author’s responsibility to (1) inform the Publications Office that the article is subject to the Public Access Policy when it is accepted for publication; (2) upload the manuscript to PMC or UKPMC as required, using the information on the following Web pages:

2. Authors may self-archive manuscripts (i.e., post them on their own Web site) before they have been peer reviewed.

3. Authors are permitted to self-archive manuscripts after they have been peer reviewed, revised, and accepted for publication (before they have been copyedited and typeset). The manuscript must include the following statement at the top of the title page:

This manuscript was accepted for publication in [name of journal] on [date]. The copyright is held by Psychonomic Society Publications. This document may not exactly correspond to the final published version. Psychonomic Society Publications disclaims any responsibility or liability for errors in this manuscript.

4. Authors are encouraged to provide the URL of self-archived manuscripts to the Publications Office so that a link may be placed in the list of manuscripts accepted for publication on the PSP Web site.
