The Psychonomic Society promotes
the communication of scientific research in psychology and allied
sciences. Its members are qualified to conduct and supervise scientific
research, must hold the PhD degree or equivalent, and must have
published significant research other than the doctoral dissertation.
Society membership, including associate members, is now around 2,500.
The main function of the Society is to exchange information among
scientists. To this end, it publishes six journals:

Perception & Psychophysics
Psychonomic Bulletin & Review
A meeting for the presentation of scientific papers is held annually,
usually in November. Approximately 1,6002,000 attend the meetings,
and about 750900 papers and posters are presented.
The 49th Annual Meeting will be held November 1316, 2008, in Chicago.
The 48th Annual Meeting was held November 1518, 2007, in Long Beach. Programs (abstracts) are available
at the meetings, or, beginning with the 1996 meeting, through the

Since January 2001, all of the Psychonomic
Society journals have been published on line as well as in print. On-line subscriptions are
available at no additional cost to all who subscribe to the printed
editions of the journals. Others can download individual articles
for a fee. Tables of contents and abstracts of current and past
issues from January 2001 on are available to all at no cost (For
journal articles from 1976 to 2000 see our Journal
Back Issues.)
