The College of Liberal Arts, Department of Psychology, at Auburn University invites applications and nominations for Head of the Department of Psychology to begin August 16, 2014. The department focuses on research and instruction in the psychological sciences. This individual’s responsibilities include: participation as a member of the senior administrative team of the College of Liberal Arts, guiding the department regarding research, teaching, faculty mentorship and development, and directing undergraduate and graduate education in the department. This appointment will be for a five year term that may be renewed for one additional term contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews and departmental by-laws.
Candidates must hold the rank of Full Professor with a Ph.D. in Psychology and have experience in academic administration. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated experience in leadership and management. The candidate selected will have academic credentials sufficient to meet tenure eligibility requirements. Candidates should demonstrate a history of research and external funding as well as a commitment to high standards of scholarship, faculty engagement and education at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The department has three Ph.D. programs: Clinical Psychology, Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences, and Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. Salary is commensurate with experience and is competitive for the position.
