Psychonomic Society Membership

Nomination Procedures
Applicants for membership must be nominated by a Member of the Society. Applicants should fill in the information requested on the Nomination for Membership form and, for a signature of endorsement, give the completed form to a Member of the Society who has agreed to nominate the individual. By signing the form, the nominator affirms his or her unqualified endorsement of the application. Forms without a nominating signature cannot be considered.

Membership Committee Procedures
Twice a year, about March 1 and September 1, nominations on hand are sent to the Membership Committee for its approval or disapproval. Applicants can ordinarily expect to be informed by the Secretary-Treasurer of the Committee’s decision 6–8 weeks later. Those in the spring group who are accepted as members are eligible to give papers at that year’s meeting upon payment of that year’s dues. (Accepted individuals in the fall group do not have time to submit paper applications before the deadline. Spring applicants may submit papers sponsored by a member of the Society; if both the paper and the applicant are accepted, reference to sponsorship of the paper will be deleted from the Program.) Because of time constraints, the membership of those accepted from the fall group does not take effect until the following year.

Psychonomic Associates
For individuals holding the PhD but not eligible for membership (typically because they have not yet had the time to have accumulated a record of published postdoctoral research), the Society has created the special status of Psychonomic Associate. Associates do not pay dues but receive the Meeting Program, Directory, etc., for an annual fee covering the costs of these materials. Associate Nomination Form

Life Members
Members in good standing who have retired or have reached age 65, and, who have paid annual dues for the previous five years, may request Life Member status. Life Members pay no dues, receive no journal credit, and must pay the registration fee, if any, to attend the Annual Meeting.

To request Membership forms, contact the Psychonomic Society Publications Office, 1710 Fortview Road, Austin, TX 78704, psp@psychonomic.org.
