In the Summer of 2011, the Governing Board of the Psychonomic Society set up the International Presence committee to maximize quality of talks and publications; maximize the reach of the society and dissemination of journals outside of North America, and foster new collaborations.
In November 2013, the Governing Board, upon recommendation of the International Presence committee, voted to hold its first non-partnered International Meeting of the Psychonomic Society in Granada, Spain in May of 2016. The meeting was a resounding success, with almost 1,000 attendees, and both the Governing Board and International Presence committee approved holding this meeting every three years in the future.
