Sunny Khemlani is a Cognitive Scientist at the Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. He received his PhD in Cognitive Psychology in 2011 from Princeton University before he began postdoctoral research at NRL. In 2014, he was selected as a Jerome and Isabella Karle Fellow, and in 2015, he was selected as a Department of Defense Early-Career Role Model. His research focuses on the cognitive science of higher-order thinking and reasoning, including deductive, inductive, and explanatory reasoning. He developed mReasoner, a unified computational model of the mental model theory of human reasoning.
