Suparna Rajaram

Suparna RajaramSuparna Rajaram is a professor of psychology and former Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences at Stony Brook University. A Fellow of the Psychonomic Society (PS), Rajaram has served as Chair (2008) and Member (2004-2009) of the PS Governing Board, Chair of the PS Publications Committee, and Associate Editor of one of the Society's premier journals, Memory & Cognition. Rajaram is a co-founder of Women in Cognitive Science, an organization that has been affiliated with the Psychonomic Society since its inception (2001) and that has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Rajaram is also the current President of the Association for Psychological Science (APS), a leading organization spanning all areas of scientific psychology worldwide with nearly 30,000 members. At APS, Rajaram has served on the APS Board of Directors (2012- 2015), chaired the APS Rising Stars Committee, and has been a member of the APS Diversity Committee, the APS Internationalization Committee, and the APS Fellows Committee. Rajaram is a Fellow of APS, American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society of Experimental Psychologists, and the Eastern Psychological Association. She is also a former Associate Editor of Psychological Science and Psychological Bulletin. Her research topics fall in the area of human memory. In her current research program, Rajaram studies social transmission of memory in small groups and large networks, collaborative and collective memory in young and older adults, and the interaction between emotion and memory. Her research has included a study of both human amnesia and intact memory to address the cognitive and neural bases of memory functions. Rajaram's research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), NSF, the Russell Sage Foundation, and Google.
