Journal Publishing Contract (March 2020)
The Psychonomic Society Governing Board and Publications Committee are signed a 10-year publishing partnership agreement with Springer which runs through the 2030. This contract helps to ensure the financial viability of the Society well into the future.

Statistical Guidelines
For submitting authors, please consult our guidelines on statistical issues, effective March 2019. Produced from a collaboration between the Psychonomic Society Publications Committee, Ethics Committee, and our journal editors, as well as expert Psychonomes, these guidelines focus on the analysis and reporting of quantitative data. Demographic Data
Where demographic data have been collected for research participants, we encourage authors to report those in the methods section, so that readers can consider the characteristics of the participants when evaluating generalizability of research findings.”

Special Issues
Special Issues are an important component of all the journals published by the Psychonomic Society. They are focused collections of papers on specific topics and provide a venue for new and emerging areas in the field and help extend the scope of the journal. Abstracts in Languages other than English
The Psychonomic Society welcomes and encourages authors to submit manuscript abstracts in languages other than English. Authors should place the additional abstract immediately below the English-language abstract in the manuscript. If the manuscript is accepted, the additional abstract will be published alongside the English abstract. Please note that we cannot do any copyediting to the additional abstract.

Open Practices Statement
(Policy approved by the Governing Board, Publications Committee, and Editors - 7/11/2018; updated March 2020)
The core mission of the Psychonomic Society has been to foster the science of cognition through the advancement and communication of basic research in experimental psychology and allied sciences. In 2017, the Society signed on to the Open Science Initiative’s Level 1 Transparency and Openness Guidelines. The purpose of this policy is to enhance the replicability of work published in Psychonomic Society journals and to encourage the sharing of data and materials among researchers.

Following up on that initiative, in 2018 the Governing Board of the Society agreed to begin requiring experimental articles published in PS journals to include an Open Practices Statement specifying (1) whether data and/or materials are available, and if so, where (as per Level 1 TOP guidelines, URLs are required to have a persistent identifier); and (2) whether any experiments were preregistered, and if so, which. This new policy took effect in January of 2019. This policy is intended to accommodate the wide range of work published by the Psychonomic Society.

SharedIt
Authors in our journals can share their content easily and legally through Springer’s SharedIt program, a content-sharing initiative means that links to view-only, full-text subscription research articles can be posted anywhere -- including on social media platforms, author websites and in institutional repositories.  All Psychonomics content becomes freely available after one year, but SharedIt allows it to be immediately shared upon publication. The Psychonomic Society publishes seven highly respected, peer-reviewed journals covering all aspects of cognitive and experimental psychology. Select a Psychonomic Society journal to showcase your science and to ensure that your research delivers the maximum impact to the global scientific community. Article Promotion
If you think that your article would be of interest to a broader scientific audience, please email your accepted manuscript and query to the Digital Content Editor of the Psychonomic Society, Dr. Laura Mickes at laura.mickes@bristol.ac.uk. She may decide to cover your paper in a featured blogpost or an interview for the Society’s podcast (see examples here). Furthermore, if your article might appeal to a general lay-person audience, Dr. Mickes may forward it to the press team at Springer for a possible press release.

Preamble
The Psychonomic Society is committed to the Transparency and Openness Promotion (TOP) Level 1 standards for disclosing all important aspects of research design and data analysis. The purpose of this policy is to enhance the replicability of work published in Psychonomic Society journals and to encourage the sharing of data and materials among researchers. In keeping with TOP 1 guidelines, authors are asked to answer the following questions when submitting a manuscript, clarifying responses as desired in the box following each query. It is recognized that no single reporting or data-sharing standard is appropriate for the wide range of work published by the Psychonomic Society. Adherence to specific recommendations is not a precondition for review of a manuscript or publication of an article. Rather, authors are encouraged to review and use standards described by, for example, the American Psychological Association (APA).
