the application of psychology to health, technology and education, and many of us use converging methods such as neuroscience and computational science to achieve our research goals. Whether you are renewing your membership in PS or

Conferral of fellowship in the Psychonomic Society is an honor that recognizes significant contributions and accomplishments in research in psychological science and closely related fields. Upon recommendation from the membership committee,
the governing board of the Psychonomic Society votes on the admittance of each new fellow. Fellows shall be persons who have demonstrated that they are well qualified to conduct and to supervise scientific research in psychology or
allied sciences.
To be eligible for consideration, a person must (a) hold the PhD degree or equivalent, (b) have published significant, peer-reviewed research beyond the doctoral dissertation, and (c) be actively involved in independent scientific research
in psychology or allied sciences. A successful candidate will 1) be at least 3 years post-PhD, and 2) have at least 6 recent research publications in high-quality refereed journals in addition to publications resulting from the PhD.
Several of these publications must be first-authored. The successful candidate will demonstrate clear evidence of independent scholarship, active engagement in methodologically rigorous and theoretically interesting high level research,
and indications of an imminent national/international reputation for excellence in the psychological sciences.
Twice a year, about March 1 and September 1, applications on hand are sent to the Membership committee for its approval or disapproval. Applicants can ordinarily expect to be informed by the Secretary of the Committee's decision
6-8 weeks later. Those in the spring group who are accepted as members are eligible to give papers at that year's meeting upon payment of that year's dues. Accepted individuals in the fall group do not have time to submit paper applications
