2025 Carbon Conscious Award
Climate change presents an urgent challenge that requires immediate action. Following guidance from climate science experts, the Society is committed to reducing carbon emissions across all our activities. The Carbon Conscious Award recognizes attendees who demonstrate exceptional commitment to minimizing their environmental impact while participating in our Annual Meeting.

Now in its second year, this award encourages sustainable conference attendance. As you plan your trip to Denver, we invite you to explore environmentally responsible travel and participation options that reduce your carbon footprint.

Up to four recipients will be selected based on their carbon reduction efforts and will receive:

• A certificate of recognition
• A $100 USD Visa gift card

Check out the Denver Downtown Sheraton's sustainability goals and initiatives here. 

Follow these guidelines:

• Opt for Low Carbon Travel: Switch off appliances before leaving, prefer eco-friendly travel choices, use paperless boarding passes, pack lighter.

• Transport: Use public transit, walk, bike, or hire hybrid or electric vehicles

• Use Reusable Containers: Bring a BPA-free beverage container and refillable travel-sized amenity bottles.

• Hotel Conservation Choices: Switch off lights, heating/cooling when not in the room, participate in towel/linen reuse programs, and reduce shower time.

• Waste: Dispose of it responsibly using the correct bins

• Diet: Try a veggie meal; and tea over coffee.

• Carbon Offset: Calculate and pay the offset of your emissions at the website of your choosing.

Our Annual Meeting is becoming Greener!
Here's how:

• Sourcing from sustainable suppliers, with strong emphasis on the host hotel's or convention center's greening and sustainability initiatives during the selection phase.

• Shifting towards fully electronic communications via the PS mobile app and emails.
  

• Moving away from printed abstract books and tote bags.

• Using recyclable and biodegradable name badges. 

• Providing water refill stations and compostable cups. 

• Encouraging the venue to recycle all post-meeting signage, badges, and materials by providing recycling bins and lanyard returns throughout the venue.
