| Teresa Bajo |
Teresa Bajo is a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Granada in Spain, and Director of the Memory and Language Laboratory in the Center for Mind, Brain and Behavior (CIMCYC, Granada). She served as Director of the International School for Postgraduate Studies and the Doctoral School of Health Sciences at the University of Granada. She received her BA in 1980 from the University of Granada (Spain). She was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to conduct Master's (1983) and PhD (1986) studies at the University of South Florida. Her main research lines focus on memory retrieval and lexical access in monolingual and bilingual participants, and on inhibition as one of the mechanisms for the control of memory and language selection. She has extended this research to understanding complex language skills such as translation and interpreting. She was a co-founder of the Spanish Society of Experimental Psychology (SEPEX, 1997), and of the European chapter of Women for Cognitive Science (E-WICS, 2013). She served as president of the European Society for Cognitive Psychology (ESCoP, 2005). She is an honorary member of ESCoP and she received the advanced career award of SEPEX (2020). She served as a member of the Governing Board of the Psychonomic Society and as chair of the Psychonomic Society's International Presence Committee (2013-2018). She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Psychological Science.
