Audrey Duarte is a Professor of Psychology and Neurology at UT Austin and co-Director of the Texas Aging and Longevity Consortium. She received her Ph.D. in Neurobiology in 2004 from U.C. Berkeley. She is a cognitive neuroscientist who uses multiple, complementary, methods, including electroencephalography (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and neuropsychology (e.g. Alzheimer’s) to investigate neural changes underlying age-related episodic memory decline across the adult lifespan in diverse populations. She studies how malleable factors (e.g. depression, sleep, vascular disease) contribute to individual differences in memory impairment and decline and the social and structural determinants (e.g. race-related stress, acculturation, education and health care access) that underlie these associations in racially, socioeconomically, and culturally diverse populations. She has written several book chapters, edited books, and special issues on the cognitive neuroscience of aging, served as Editor in Chief for the journal Aging, Neuropsychology, and Cognition for 3 years, Handling Editor at Neuroimage for 3 years, and is currently a Handling Editor at Imaging Neuroscience. She is the co-Chair of the Community Engagement and Outreach committee of the Cognitive Neuroscience Society. She has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and her work has been continuously funded by the NIH, NSF, AFAR, and the Alzheimer’s Association. She has received research awards including the Faces of Inclusive Excellence award from Georgia Tech in 2019, the UT Austin Excellence in Research on Aging award in 2024, and the Psychonomic Society Mid-Career Award in 2024. She looks forward to serving on the Psychonomic Society Governing Board to promote inclusivity and representation for members across career stages at the meeting and throughout the year.
