Gillian Murphy is an Associate Professor in the School of Applied Psychology, University College Cork, Ireland, where she leads the Everyday Cognition Lab. Her research explores attention and memory in everyday settings, with a particular focus on memory distortion and misinformation. She also has a keen interest in the ethics of deceptive research practices and regularly publishes on this topic. 

Gillian is a Fulbright Scholar and has also received funding from bodies such as the Irish Research Council, Science Foundation Ireland, the Health Research Board and Google. She was inducted into the Psychonomic Society as a Fellow in 2024.
