Vishnu "Deepu" Murty

Vishnu "Deepu" Murty

Vishnu ‘Deepu’ Murty is the principal investigator of the Adaptive Memory Lab, which is housed in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Temple University. He is currently part of the Cognition and Neuroscience Area as well as the Social Area, and is affiliated faculty with the Decision Neuroscience Program. His research program characterizes how engagement of neuromodulatory systems influences memory and memory-guided decision making. To approach these questions, he uses a combination of novel behavioral paradigms, functional neuroimaging, computational modeling, and natural language processing. He investigates these processes across a variety of affective and motivational states including reward, novelty, agency, and threat. Further, he probes these systems in individuals with or at-risk for psychopathology to better understand the role of memory in adaptive behavior, specifically in the domains of psychosis and post-traumatic stress disorder. His research program has been or is currently funded by the Behavioral and Brain Research Foundations, National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Science Foundation.
