| In Memoriam: Steven Yantis |
We wanted to inform you with sadness of the death of Steve Yantis after a long battle with cancer.Steve was a Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. To quote our member and Steve’s colleague, Howard Egeth, “Steve was a brilliant scientist, a wonderful friend and colleague, and a beloved teacher and mentor. He will be missed by a broad segment of the Johns Hopkins community and of the world-wide scientific community.” He had served on the Psychonomics Publications Committee and was about to take up a position on our Strategic Planning Committee when he became ill. He was an originator of the Psychonomic Society Early Career Awards that we now give annually and, in recognition of his work for the Society, the Governing Board voted several months ago to name one of these Awards in his honor. Fortunately, we were able to do this while Steve was still able to enjoy the honor. We hope that the award will serve as a celebration of Steve Yantis’ contributions to our field.
