Completing Your Online Speaker Profile
If you have not already done so, please complete your online speaker profile by October 27, 2022, using the unique presenter login that was included in your acceptance email, sent on July
26, 2022.
Your online speaker profile will be visible to all attendees who tune in to the online content, as well as those who tune in virtually to watch your session. Your speaker profile will make it easier for
others to connect with you and view your work.
Uploading Your PPT Presentation and Handouts (if applicable) Within your speaker profile, you also have the option to upload your PPT presentation and any presentation handouts. While
optional, we strongly encourage you to share your PPT presentation if possible, as the ability to download these presentations will assist those with accessibility needs who may need to use a screen
reader or similar tool to access the information you present.

Preparing Your Talk
Recording Format
A PowerPoint template in the required 16:9 ratio format is available here.
Presenter and Co-author Names
The opening slide should include the names and affiliations of all the contributing scientists. The name and affiliation of the presenter should be clearly indicated.
Abstract Number
Your abstract number
can be found in the 2022 Abstract Book. (To search the Abstract Book, download the file as a PDF
and use control-F or command-F.)
Illustrations
Figures should be designed to be viewed from a variety of screens, using clear, visible graphics. Although each figure should illustrate no more than one or two major points, figures need not be simple. The main points should be clear without extended viewing, but detail can be included for the knowledgeable viewer.
Each figure or table should have a heading of one or two lines in large type stating the “take-home” message. Detailed information should be in smaller type in a legend below the graphic. Because there is no text accompanying a poster, the figure legend should contain commentary that would normally appear in the text of a manuscript (results and discussion). It should describe concisely not only the content of the figure but also the conclusions derived from it. Details of methodology should be kept brief and should be placed at the end of the legend.
Statistics
Please follow the Psychonomic Society Statistical Guidelines. Effect
sizes should be reported and error bars with appropriate labels should be included on all graphs.
Layout
Arrange materials in columns rather than in rows. It is easier to scan a poster by moving systematically along it rather than by zigzagging back and forth in front of it. An introduction should be placed at the upper left and a conclusion at the lower right, both in large type. The sequence of illustrations should be indicated with numbers or letters at least 1-inch high, preferably in bold print.
You may find it convenient to have a separate section describing methods, but it is quite effective to include this information as part of the data presentation, as described above. Carefully chosen photographs of apparatus, or schematic diagrams of procedures, can convey a great deal of information about methods without much text. Most viewers will tend to skim or ignore long textual passages.
It is recommended that you leave approximately the bottom 20% of each slide free of text/graphics to allow for captions at the bottom of the screen. Auto-captions will be enabled for all live presentations, and captions will also be available to viewers who watch your talk on demand after the conference.
Text
and/or graphics that run closer to the bottom of a slide risk being covered by captions.

Day of Presentation
All presentation times are in U.S. Eastern Time, the local time for the on-site meeting in Boston.
All talks, regardless of whether they are presented on-site in Boston or virtually, will be given live. There will be no prerecorded talks this year.
Keeping Psychonomic Time
All spoken papers are 15 minutes in length, followed by a formally scheduled five-minute discussion period.
Session chairs and speakers should only start a talk at the scheduled time. If talks begin before the scheduled time, attendees may miss your presentation. Keeping Psychonomic Time also means ending on time. If a speaker doesn't finish on time, session chairs should ask the speaker to conclude the presentation so the next talk can begin at the scheduled time.
Presenting On-Site in Boston: The Day of the Your Presentation
- On the day of your presentation, please upload and preview your slides in the room for your session to make sure they appear correctly. You can do this early in the morning before the start of the program.
- Meet your Moderator (aka Session Chair) 10 minutes before the session starts in the meeting room.
- When speaking, make sure to face the microphone for good-quality sound.
- Venue staff will be nearby for assistance.
Presenting On-Site in Boston: Audio-Visual Equipment
Each session room will have a standard audio-visual equipment, including:
- One Windows laptop
- Sound equipment
- A projector, screen, and remote control
- You must use the provided laptop and remote control to operate your slides. This will allow us to record the session and make it easier to stay on Psychonomic Time.
- All presentations that are provide prior to your session should be pre-loaded on the provided laptop before the session begins. Presentations will be deleted at the end of the meeting.
- It is strongly recommended that you bring a back-up copy of your final presentation to the session on a USB memory stick in case you experience any internet connectivity issues and cannot download the session from the cloud in the Speaker Ready Room.
Presenting Virtually: Zoom
- You will receive a calendar appointment approximately 48 hours prior to your session. This appointment will include a zoom link. DO NOT LOGIN THROUGH THE ATTENDEE PORTAL. YOU MUST LOGIN THROUGH THE LINK
PROVIDED IN YOUR CALENDAR APPOINTMENT.
- Please login at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of your presentation. This will allow you to text your internet connection and make sure your microphone and video settings
are working appropriately.
- Since talks will be made available on demand to virtual meeting attendees eight hours after they are presented live, please keep in mind that the questions you receive during your live Q&A session
will come from the on-site audience in Boston. Your moderator (session chair) will pose these questions to you during your live Q&A.
- Presentation format is as follows:
- Welcome by Moderator
- Speaker Introduction
- Give your live talk
- Live Q&A session (Moderated by Session Chair; Questions submitted by the live audience in Boston)
- Please make sure you adhere to Psychonomic Time and end your talk at the appropriate 15-minute mark. This will ensure that the session continues to run on time and no other speakers in your session are
negatively impacted. Additionally, any presentation time beyond 15 minutes may be cut off in the recording that will be made available on demand. You moderator may also instruct the on site AV technician
to end your talk if it runs over the allotted time.
Special Assistance
