Federal Budget Process Shows Promising Signs for Research Funding 

This week, the House Appropriations Committee approved funding bills for fiscal year 2022. The Institute of Education Sciences, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation all received significant increases, building on growing Congressional enthusiasm for federal investments in research.Read more»

 

NSF Pride in STEM Panel 

On June 24th, the NSF hosted a Distinguished Lecture featuring Career Awardees who discussed LGBTQ+ pride in STEM. They spoke about their own research projects in this area, as well as some of the challenges, advocacy approaches, and advice that pertains to the LGBTQ+ community.Read more»

 

NASEM Summit on Diversity

On June 29th and 30th, NASEM held a national summit to discuss the effects of systemic and structural racism and bias on underrepresented individuals in STEMM as well as strategies to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in these settings.Read more »

 

New Guidance: Youth Mental Health in the Wake of COVID-19

SEAN and NASEM produced a rapid expert consultation of school-based strategies for addressing youth mental health in the wake of COVID-19. With the goal of ensuring that youth have the support necessary to meet their mental, behavioral, and emotional needs, the consultation aims to inform parents, educators, and the students themselves.Read more »

 

FABBS Public Scholarship Series
