Call for Nominations:
Advancing Social and Behavioral Science Research and Application within the Weather Enterprise
The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine is looking for experts to serve on a new study aimed at improving the nation’s weather readiness. The task of the study is to develop a framework for generating and applying social and behavioral science (SBS) research within the context of meteorology, weather forecasting, and weather preparedness and response. The Academies’ Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (BASC), Board on Environmental Change and Society (BECS), and Board on Human-Systems Integration (BoHSI) are conducting the study.
Expertise is needed in weather forecasting, meteorological research, communication research, decision making, risk perception, assessment and communication, behavioral economics, human factors and product design, disaster and risk management and response, meteorology education and work force development, weather institutions and policy, and other realms.
