The NIHScientific Workforce Diversity Seminar Seriesconcluded with its last installment, "How Does Diversity Impact Science?" NIH Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity (COSWD), Dr. Marie A. Barnard, facilitated the panel discussion on outcomes of scientific workforce diversity, how that impacts creativity and innovation in science, and effective methods measuring this impact. Read more »

 

The Advisory Committee (AC) for the Social, Behavioral, and Economic (SBE) Sciences Directorate at the National Science Foundation (NSF)met on May 20, to hear updates and provide feedback on big-picture questions facing the Directorate.Read more »

 

Congress made progress on efforts to reauthorize the NSF and establish the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health. Both efforts highlight strong momentum behind proposals to bolster federal support for research and development. Nonetheless, hurdles remain before substantial new policies become law. Read more »

 

2022 Doctoral Research Excellence Award Winners

The FABBS Doctoral Dissertation Research Excellence Awards, offered to our Departmental and Division Affiliates, honor graduate student scientists who have conducted research of superior quality and with broader societal impact.

Congratulations to Dr. Shrinidhi Subramaniam, assistant professor of Psychology and Child Development at California State University, Stanislaus, on receiving the 2022 Early Career Impact Award. She was nominated by theAssociation for Behavioral Analysis International(ABAI). Her research looks at incentive-based interventions in clinical populations to encourage drug abstinence and a return to the workforce.Read more »
