FABBS mourns the passing of Representative John Porter (R-IL), whose dedicated, bipartisan efforts to advance medical research were instrumental in growing the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH budget doubled during the 1990s, thanks in no small part to Rep. Porter's work. After retiring from Congress, Rep. In 2000, the John Edward Porter Neuroscience Research Center at NIH was established in his name.

We are thankful for Rep. Porter and his lifetime commitment to advancing rigorous science in pursuit of improving the well-being of all Americans. Read more on the Washington Post »
